Hi, my name is Mike St. Jean and I’m a graduate with a Bachelors Degree in communications and journalism concentration. I consider myself well rounded in the communications field. I have worked with an online journalism website called the exchange and a blog website about intramural sports. For my internship I worked for Chip Taylor Communications. There I learned how to make sales calls, write blurbs for the website, help create a new website, video edit, and use technology to communicate with people who worked for Chip in other states. I also know how to use the programs: Quark, Photoshop, and Indesign.
I would like to be considered for a full time communications position either in the Ski Industry, Major League Soccer, or in the communications department for a specific Major League Soccer team.
I have been involved with soccer in some way for most of my life and I'm very passionate about it. From the first moment I kicked a soccer ball I knew that soccer was going to be very important to me. I started playing soccer at a very young age and played throughout high school. I never considered myself as just a player but a student of the game and I am confident with my soccer knowledge. I do play MLS Fantasy and in 2008 I came in 21st place in the nation at the end of the season. As a high school student, I was also lucky enough to be able to help coach the younger kids at the Franklin Pierce University Soccer Camp that was run by the boys Head Coach, Marco Koolman. My knowledge grew greatly from that experience as I learned what it was like to be a coach.
As far as skiing, I've been on skis since a very young age and was fortunate to race for five years, 8th grade through high school and learned from some of the best race coaches around at Pats Peak in Henniker, NH. I was also able to qualify for meet of champions for two out of my four years in high school. I have also raced in the adult corporate leagues for the past two years and have qualified for the national championships for my division in both seasons. In the 2008-2009 season I coached 6-7 year old ski racers at Cannon Mountain and coached high shcool teams at Pats Peak during the 2011-2012 season. I knew growing up that my soccer and ski racing careers were going to end after high school, but I also knew that I would love to work around both of them and be involved with them as much as possible.
I know I will be able to bring high energy and maturity to this job and I'm confident with my ability to work and communicate well with others.
